The ideal BE project group
When your fifth semester comes to an end, there are hushed voices between people talking about some high-tech lingo that you wouldn’t even bother about. In semester six, you can see your same old class painted with new colors of betrayal, shock, dismay, tactics, back-stabbing and treachery. As the people whom you have seen working or hanging out together suddenly change groups only for the sake of a final year project! Who’s who’s friend or foe could put in more confusing stories than the Mahabharata at times! After the final groups are declared, there are some pleasant assurances that friendship, trust and loyalty still exists; for some fortunate ones. So how should the ideal project group be? Pick up some of the tech-freaks mix well with the workaholics, a dash of given-date-is-the-due-date believers, a pinch of sci-fi writer for the documentation with the topping ipod-guys for entertainment! Bake it all to get minimum 48/50! And there you go, the ideal group is ready! What more can one ask for? But I dint have any of these, neither the recipe, nor the next big-idea to attract any of the ingredients. Being one of the fortunate ones, I was very happy with my newly formed group of a K, an A, a V and Me! Let me describe my ideal project group.
K, the brainy person who doesn’t flaunt it, an introvert who speaks a few words but gives presentations the best! Sharp mind but lazy to do things on time, intelligent to make wonders but loves to freak out with friends instead, will do things at his own pace even if it means solving something that’s been left untouched since two months in two minutes. One can always count on him. This trustworthy person is the coder, the last-minute-think-fast, smart techie of my group!

A, doing things almost at the last moment, enjoying life to the fullest, tension free like a grasshopper, but oozing with ideas and strategies. Sufficient sleep (ten hours minimum!) can work wonders for A, full of zeal and enthusiasm, ‘I’ll do it’ comes instantly when one is bored, tired and frustrated of work, managing things in the last moment well enough to get a ‘good’ and smile from the professor. The silly jokes and PJs popping up most of the times can sure make the bunch forget about the woes of engineering! This is the I’m-ready-to-help person with amazing managerial and organizational skills of the group.
Me, the most tensed person of the group, a list of things to be done, written, printed, some not working, sometimes even lost! Worrying about due dates, reminding others of them, trying to do things well before time, panic when the work’s not done up to the mark or something is found undone at the last moment, making frantic calls when 10:30am was the scheduled time and no sign of anyone till 11:00am. But I am sure glad about the freedom that I get, selecting the project, doing whatever I want to, no one to nag, poke or irritate. It sure is blissful!
V, the coolest of all, not a sign of tension ever on his face, believes in doing everything at the last moment no matter what it is or how important it is. May look like one of those who never bother about anything, but in reality he is the much-needed element. V tells us to slow down when we are too fast, practical enough to not overdo any work. A very stable and relaxed mind, stress-free, drives away the tensions of any person stuck in any situation, the stress-reliever, and also the one who quietly gets chips into the project-lab for us in the evening.
So, here we have a mixture of trust, brains, technical-know-hows, the freedom to select project, great ideas, enthusiasm, loyalty, helpfulness, flexible time schedules, deadlines are met, no nagging, no complaining, no one to dictate or to take undue credit, stress-reliever, hog-when-hunger-strikes, take-a-chill-pill along with laughter, joy and mental peace... whew!! Hey isn’t this the ideal project group?!! Kudos to KAVS!! This is the best and the coolest gang to be with!! The awesome foursome!!

Bottom line: The best is within you, among you, around you and your friends.
